The bruised reed

“…The bruised reed he will not break, and the flickering flame he will not quench…” What beautiful words from the prophet Isaiah and how beautifully they are embodied in the ministry of Jesus. When I am estranged from others through quarrels, or through anger or resentment, I could be crushing the life of the Spirit within the heart of a brother or sister, I could be quenching the flickering flame of grace. We all know someone who is “down on their luck” as we say. How might I make their life easier today?
