Giving all!

The contrast between the rich devotees and the poor widow is striking! It is so easy to give a little from substantial wealth accumulated and saved over time. But the widow offers an amount that is a real sacrifice, truly life-threatening. She has little and gives so much. That takes faith and courage. It hints at the sacrifice of Jesus himself. He also gave all he had to save us. True discipleship, then, is a costly business. When the chips are down, how much would we be prepared to sacrifice to remain true to our faith?
