Martha welcomed Jesus

Jesus loved his friends Martha, Mary and their brother Lazarus who lived in Bethany. When Martha welcomed Jesus into their home, Mary “sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to him speaking”. Martha, doing what needed to be done in the kitchen, became distracted because she took her eyes off Jesus. Understanding this, Jesus invited her to relax and do her work while focused on him, the One who matters. In your prayer, welcome Jesus into your ‘house’.

Sit with Mary at his feet, and, with Martha, calmly serve Christ present in your neighbour.
