Ezra 1:1-6; Psalm 126; Luke 8:16-18

Let your light shine

There are two images in today’s readings: Ezra and Psalm 126 describe the joy of homecoming and Jesus urges us not to be afraid to let the light of our faith and love be visible and active. Faith is not a private privilege! We come back to the house of the Lord to replenish the light of faith so that we can then go out to joyfully proclaim it in our everyday lives: at home, at work and everywhere we go. As the song declares: “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!” May we leave the church on Sundays ready to be shining beacons wherever we may be. “Go now you are sent forth!”
