Jesus is human like us

Today’s gospel reveals a very human Jesus, exasperated with the stubborn disbelief of the Jews. We are sometimes tempted to think that Jesus, being God, was different from us. Like him, we get angry, disappointed, sad and sometimes express our feelings to those who hurt us. On the other hand, the reading might be a mirror of our own refusal to be satisfied with what God gives us, like the people Jesus is talking to. Maybe today we might pray to Jesus, not as a faraway being but as someone like us who has shared our disappointments and frustrations, who has felt failure and sadness and who understands and accepts us in our imperfect humanity.
