SAINTS CORNELIUS AND CYPRIAN (M)

1 Timothy 2:1-8; Psalm 28; Luke 7:1-10

God’s love is for everyone

The centurion in today’s gospel seems to be an exceptional man. He has built a synagogue for the Jewish people and now demonstrates an extraordinary faith in Jesus who is “amazed” at such faith. How often do we make negative judgements about people who are not of our nationality or ethnic group or religion? Are we able to relate to all who cross our path, as human beings beloved by God and worthy of our respect? In his letter to Timothy, Paul reminds us that “God desires that all should be saved”. To have the heart of God, which is made visible for us in Jesus, we too should be open to people of all faiths and ethnicities. God loves and longs for them all!
