Loving our enemies

Today’s Gospel could not be clearer! At the same time, it is certainly one of the most difficult commandments of Jesus for all of us. Stop and think: who has truly hurt me? Who am I withholding my affection from or even shutting out of my life because the memory of the hurt they inflicted has not left me? Nevertheless, to be a true follower of Jesus, a true Christian, and though it will be painful, Jesus asks us to forgive and to pray for these persons. Mary, whose name we venerate today, was called on to forgive even those who tortured and killed her Son.
