Out of control

There are times when we seem out of control in our journey of faith – with financial or family worries, employment or pressing deadlines, repeated changes in our local faith communities and parishes, all these and more become like the winter storms dancing upon the roof and unsettling our hearts. Like the disciples, we also cry out, “Lord save us, we are perishing…”

The annoying thing is that Jesus is asleep in the middle of the storm – he seems completely unfazed that our boats are way out from shore and are about to be swamped. The irony is that when we do call out to him in prayer we notice him sleeping beside us in our tiny boats of faith and bringing us peace.
