THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

Being blessed

In his final action while on Earth before he ascended to his Father in heaven, Jesus blessed his disciples. The disciples in turn worshipped him and then went joyfully to the Temple praising God. Today is one of those special days of praise and worship when we honour God in our prayer and liturgy and pay him homage, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is a day, too, when we are especially aware of our own eternal destiny and that the God who waits each day for us also blesses us as Jesus blessed those disciples.
