Easter Vigil

Genesis 1:1-2:2; Psalm 118; Romans 6:3-11; Luke 24:1-12

They remembered his words…

This day begins in the barrenness of a cold and empty grave. The trauma is raw and the hopelessness pulsates. We reach the end of the possible, and it is now, as it is always, entirely over to God. In the midst of pain there can be tenderness -- the women reaching the grave with their spices for anointing Jesus’ body. Mary of Magdala, Joanna and Mary the mother of James encounter the startling truth of resurrection. Death and life can never be the same again. Take a moment today to be near the empty graves in your own life and allow the words of the angel to be with you – “he is not here, he is risen…”
