Never slaves of anyone

One of the insidious characteristics of the slavery of our spirit is invisibility. We don’t recognise what is happening and we may feel driven, but we do not really know for what. We often forget to be still and pray. The subliminal messages reach us and in a society of consumerism we are gradually commodified. The loss of the awe of being a person is sad. Jesus is suggesting that faith in him brings freedom, a liberty that allows us to wonder and to be. To be free indeed. In our prayer today, can we sit before Jesus and thank him for reminding us that we are not a thing but a person?
