Recognition is healing

To be ignored or not recognised can be crippling even for a moment. This man has missed the stirring healing waters for 38 years. Jesus sees him and listens to his desire. Having recognition from Jesus, he is able to get up and walk to the Temple, healed. We are gifted and sometimes healed when we are truly seen by the other. Instinctively we know that we belong when we are recognized. This reaches beyond words and has more in common with a silent gaze. Actually, a wonderful way to begin our time of prayer, is by recognising that Jesus looks at us. Can we pause before our prayer today and remember that we are being gazed at by our God who loves us?
