Hosea 14:2-10; Psalm 81; Mark 12:28-34

Listen, O Israel

Jesus recites the Shema in the gospel today. He is answering a question put to him by a scribe about the first and greatest commandment and he gives the perfect answer. God is one and there is no other and we should love him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. We should also love our neighbour as ourselves. Our faith is based on this, and amid the complexities of life it is good to go back to the fundamentals of what we believe. Love God, love our neighbour.
