The Kingdom of God

The Jewish phrase ‘The Kingdom of God’ was for those who had grown into mature faith. Today we would probably describe it as ‘enlightenment.’ The scribe in Mark’s gospel had been listening to debates and arguments based on law. He asked Jesus what the greatest commandment was, and he received a simple and beautiful answer. It is not about law but about love. I guess we too, have Catholic teachings we perceive to be law, but if we examine them, all those ‘head’ teachings are designed to take us to the heart space and the Kingdom of God.
