Choosing the true bread

In our Gospel reading, Jesus tries to get his disciples to look beyond their stomachs and to understand who he really is. Feeding a multitude from a few loaves of bread is, indeed, humanly impossible – but, for God, all things are possible – so, Jesus is asking them: “Who do you say I am?”

We have a choice to make: Jesus the Christ, or the yeast of Herod and the Pharisees.

For James, and for those who believe, the choice is for Christ, who has proved himself and has won, for those who love him, the prize of eternal life.
