The Epiphany of the Lord
Isaiah 60:1-6; Psalm 72; Ephesians 3:2-3, 5-6; Matthew 2:1-12
Epiphany – the manifestation of Christ
The Magi were gentiles, but they followed the star with simple faith and were filled with delight. Finding the child with his mother Mary and falling on their knees, they offered him gifts. I pray that I might have the same open mind and heart which these wise seekers possessed. Like them, may I search for Jesus with honesty and sincerity. As the Magi offered gifts, so, with Jesus, we offer ourselves to the Father in the Eucharist. In return we receive Jesus as our gift in Communion. With Jesus in my heart, may I manifest him to others.
