Living beatitude

St. Paul says greed is the same thing as worshipping false gods, which come in many guises. We tend to see the false gods of others but not our own. Money, gluttony and pleasure are singled out by Jesus as obvious targets of human greed. But is there less tangible greed in my life? It may be as simple as an opinion that I tend to idolize. Contemplation of my hidden life in God reveals my particular greed, not negatively but in the light of God’s beautiful love. Jesus says those who know their particular greed and forsake it to live with Christ in God are happy.
