We are all servants

The key to the Lord’s teaching in today’s Gospel is contained in the last two sentences. Whether we be a leader or follower, a senior or a junior, high or low on the social scale, our role is always the same: to serve. Love is expressed in service. Whatever our station in life, we are called, as disciples of Christ, to be servants, just as Jesus himself, our Lord and master, ‘came not to be served but to serve’ (Matthew 20:28).
