Ephesians 3:14-21, Ps.33, Luke 12:49-53

The divine blessing

St Paul was a complex man with a wide range of emotions, all expressed passionately in his writing. The most beautiful passages, however, come from quieter moments when passion subsides and Paul is filled with grace. We cannot read this prayer to the Ephesians without being touched in a personal way. The words take us beyond ourselves, carrying us into a vast space of Jesus’ light and love. We have a knowing of the heart that is beyond the knowledge of the head. We feel the utter fullness of God.
