An eager heart

Don’t we all love Peter? He is so enthusiastic, always first off the starting block, even if he sometimes runs in the wrong direction. Today he wants to know if Jesus intends a parable to be for everyone or is it just for them, the select few? Jesus doesn’t give a direct answer. Hasn’t Peter yet worked out that a parable has universal application? That’s why it’s a parable: people take from it what they need. Or maybe Jesus doesn’t answer the silly question because he doesn’t want to hurt Peter’s feelings. Those of us who are like Peter, would like this to be so.
