Dealing with pride

Pride hardens my heart and hinders my growth in virtue. The prophet speaks of knowledge of God. Jesus Christ teaches that true love of God has something to do with knowing my pride and bringing it before God. The love of the tax collector is humble before God. The love of the Pharisee is not. I may pride myself on my knowledge of obvious sins which I must avoid. I may know all about what it means to be a committed member of my parish and serve others. But still I may avoid putting my pride before God. Prayer is a good way of bringing my pride before God.
