Going Out

Jesus didn’t ask his followers to bring anyone into a church. He didn’t have one to bring them into. Rather he sent them out to the wider community to teach and to heal. We tend to seek to bring people into our church buildings. Instead shouldn’t we be a going out Church? Pope Francis has exhorted the leaders and people of the Church to “go out from our palaces and pews”. Our inner life – the Eucharist – should energise us to go out to our communities, to spread the good news of the Gospel by our words and our actions.
