All sorts

There was variety among the apostles … four fishermen, a tax collector, a terrorist, a couple of the Lord’s cousins. There was a similar variety among the women whom the Lord drew into ministry. The Magdalene had been a deeply wounded woman. Joanna was a prominent lady at Herod’s court. Suzanna was probably Zebedee’s wife and mother of James and John. That little group around Jesus is a microcosm of the Church. Mgr. Ronald Knox got it right when he said that the Church is “all saints, all sinners, all sorts.”
