Faith and works

Hints of the old “faith versus works” debate in today’s Gospel. But in truth there is no conflict between them. We must do “the Father’s will,” but we can know his will only through faith and prayer. Prayer (“Lord, Lord”) will deepen our relationship with God and by and through that relationship we will be guided and enabled to do “the Father’s will”. Faith and works. Prayer and action. That is a spiritual life which is “founded on rock”.
