Gifts multiplied in the giving

In our first reading the mother of her seven sons implanted in their hearts the gifts of faith, courage, and hope in life after death. The gifts given to her were multiplied in the giving. In the Gospel the man of noble birth is Jesus, the far land is earth and the gifts he gives [among others] are faith, hope, and love. He expects us to make use of them. If we give them away then we will be given more. If we hide them then they will be taken away, and we will be excluded from God’s Presence.
Let us be generous in giving away the gifts of the Holy Spirit, for they are multiplied in the giving.
