31st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Wisdom 11:22-12:2, 2 Thess 1:11-2:2,
Luke 19:1-10

Like Zacchaeus, none of us measures up when it comes to being in the Presence of Jesus – we all fall short. Yet God has placed in our heart a desire to see him. We must make an effort, extend our energies of body, mind and heart, like Zacchaeus. Then Jesus will stop and look up at us. [He never looks down at anybody – except from the cross]. He will call our name, come to our house: for he desires to enter into friendship with us, as with all those who are in some way estranged from God. Let us welcome Jesus joyfully. Let us be generous in giving our hearts to him, and our belongings to those in greater need than ourselves. Let us experience the joy of salvation, and find ways to share the life of God with others.
