St JOHN BAPTIST de la SALLE (M)

Genesis 17:3-9, Psalm 105; John 8:51-59

“I am with you, always.”

In the Covenant or Promise that God made with Abraham, God said he would be with Abraham always, regardless of the failures of Abraham and his people. Jesus is a part of that promise – a real and actual presence of God among us, reinforcing that promise. He reminds the people in today’s Gospel, and they challenge him; Jesus answers “Before Abraham ever was, I am!” Quietly, let Jesus say that to you!
