The witness of faith

St Agatha was tortured and martyred in Catania, Sicily during the persecution of Decius around the year 250 AD. Throughout history, and even in our day, men and women are dying for their Christian faith. The age of martyrs is not over. Maybe this helps us to keep our own struggles about our faith in perspective. We too can offer up the suffering in our own lives so that grace may be given to those who need it. The witness of faith of a young women all those centuries ago still speaks to us and encourages us today.
