Disciples called by Jesus

Tax collectors were hated. They took money from the Jewish people for the benefit of the Roman Empire. Levi was in the midst of his daily work at his tax booth when Jesus passes by and changes his life forever by saying: “Follow me.” His response is immediate and sealed by sharing a meal with Jesus. Many followed Jesus. These disciples are called to attach themselves personally to Jesus so as to learn all about following him. Jesus invites me to reflect on his call to be his disciple.
