Sts Simon and Jude, Apostles (F)

Ephesians 2:19-22; Psalm 19:1-6;
Luke 6:12-16

No longer strangers

The apostles were individually called from obscurity into a personal friendship with Jesus and into a community with one another. It was not an immediate transformation. Their jealousy got in the way, as did their stubbornness and their selfishness. How like us they were! How wonderful to belong, to be part of a team, to have a purpose shared with friends. This is a Christian’s heritage. Not a stranger but a citizen; a member of the body of Christ. Jesus, my brother, help me live this day aware of the dignity, the privilege and the responsibility of travelling with you.
