Without a wedding garment

Over the years I have felt sorry for our almost wedding guest, in the parable today. So, his public demise, bound hand and foot, have stirred in my reflecting. God’s presence is all-pervading as is the Kingdom of Heaven. We live in this stunning land, speaking out God’s love. Yet, we need to do what we can to receive this gift and to respond. A gift becomes such when it is received. The wedding garments were on offer and his unwillingness to don the garment only highlighted his actual lack of responsiveness to the gathering. Each ‘yes’ or ‘amen,’ when offered from our heart of hearts, is appreciated by God. God seeks the genuineness of our heart.
