Levi, a good man

Todays’ gospel acknowledges Jesus’ gift of seeing the goodness even in a despised tax collector. “Levi, follow me.” Levi left everything and obeyed. Inviting a social outcast into Jesus’ team is an encouragement. It gives us a feeling of acceptance and a sense of belonging regardless of our shortcomings. So if Jesus overlooks the faults of a wicked tax collector, how much more does he ignore our sinfulness? The invitation from Jesus welcomes each one of us to follow him joyfully in our families, work places or religious communities.
