Feeding

Today’s gospel passage records Jesus’ spontaneous feelings for the crowd. Three days with him and the disciples without food! Jesus’ compassion for the multitude was plentiful. We are freely invited to respond to Jesus’ love for us, to come to him in prayer, in the Eucharist and in pondering God’s word. Possibly the human soul is fattened by the sweet desires of this material world with no space left for the Spirit. Perhaps if we throw ourselves at the feet of Jesus in trust, we could come away in fullness, with some left over to share with others.
