Tradition

Diet in the Jewish eating tradition could be recommended for the diabetics of our world today. They could find some good recipes from the Jewish food law for their menu. In the gospel, however, Jesus criticised the Pharisees and the Scribes who cultivated cleanliness and purity as virtue in order to be holy while ignoring the poor. The word of God was drowned out by over-emphasis on tradition. Today’s gospel invites us to listen to God’s word daily in scripture in order to find God’s presence in our various Christian traditions.
