The challenge of faith

Zechariah is like most of us! We find it so hard to believe that God will act in our lives when things get difficult! Samson’s mother and father seem to have had more faith, though the miracle of the conception of Samson was no less incredible. Neither John’s nor Samson’s parents could have foreseen the role their sons would play in the long history of God’s salvation of humankind. Today we can look back at the history of salvation, of God’s action in our human history, but how strong is our faith in God’s continuing saving presence in our own times that seem so dark?
