True generosity

It is not easy to be truly generous; to act from the heart thinking only of the other. Most often we are hoping at least to be recognised and thanked. Some applause would be better. A small gift might even be appropriate. Jesus, however, says we should not look for any personal reward. Rather, it should be enough to know that we have helped someone for no other reason than our conviction that they are our brother or sister. This teaching of Jesus is an unending daily challenge!
