The Lord remembers his covenant

Because Abraham accepted the gift of faith to know God, Abraham became the Father of Israel, from whom – by Mary and the Holy Spirit – would be born Jesus of Nazareth, our Lord and Saviour. In the Gospel, Jesus challenges his disciples to declare their faith in him. If they do, Jesus stands with them. If they disown him, he will disown them. Unrepentant sham disciples blaspheme the Holy Spirit, whereas, when faithful disciples are persecuted, the Holy Spirit “speaks” through their witness.

Lord Jesus, help me be a faithful witness to you.
