Jesus challenges the guests, and all of us today, to reflect on the motives behind our choices. All day long we make choices, often unaware of the motives which impel us. So often there is a hidden selfishness in what may appear to be a virtuous action. As we relate to others are we quick to judge their motives, or do we leave judgement to God, who alone knows the hidden depths of each person? Maybe in our prayer today we could ask the Spirit of Jesus to help us to be honest with ourselves as we walk through each day.
