God’s revelation as treasure

Today’s readings reveal the investment God wants in our everyday lives. Moses follows instructions to build the tabernacle. God’s glory is so immense that none could enter the tent of meeting, yet the same God had a ‘mercy’ seat built into the tabernacle. God longs to be with us, and Jesus reveals that desire for intimacy within every facet of our lives. We also see that God waits before judging. We can ponder today’s Gospel about judgement with hope and trust, when we hold God’s full revelation as taonga (treasure) and receive the truth of holding together mercy and judgement, intimacy and awe.
