ST JOHN FISHER AND ST THOMAS MORE, MARTYRS

2 Corinthians 12:1-10; Psalm 34; Matthew 6:24-34

God’s providence

The two English martyrs, Saints John Fisher and Thomas More, both put their commitment to their faith ahead of the preservation of their lives. They died because they rejected the desires of King Henry Vlll for them to approve the dissolution of his marriage. To stand by our commitments takes courage. But when it is about commitment to our faith, that courage is supported by our trust in God’s providential care of us.
