Suffering

Saint Aloysius was born into a noble family but chose to leave behind the comforts of home to live and work among the sick of Rome. He took ill and died. St Paul writes to the Christian community at Corinth detailing a long list of hardships and sufferings that he has endured in his journey of faith. Jesus suffered and died on the cross of Calvary. He willingly accepted his Father’s will for him but protested: “If it be possible, let this suffering pass me by”. Suffering is part of life and it does not need to be chosen, let alone celebrated or enjoyed!
