The sign of Jonah

The people are asking Jesus for a sign to show them who he is. Jesus responds that the only sign he will give is the sign of Jonah. Jonah’s sign was to call the people of Nineveh to repentance. This is the work of Lent, to turn away from what is superfluous and distracting and repent of our sins and turn to God. We should ask ourselves what we can do to clear away the clutter in the house of our souls.
