To recognise Jesus

When Hannah brought Samuel to the sanctuary of the temple to present him to God, she was greeted by the aged Eli. So, too, when his faithful Jewish parents present Jesus there, they are greeted by the aged Simeon and Anna. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Simeon spoke of both joy and sorrow in ways that amazed the child’s father and mother. Am I open to the Holy Spirit, as Simeon and Anna were, so that I am able to wait and to recognise Jesus?
