Always Ready to Respond

Most of us would perhaps be very reluctant to disturb any of our friends in the middle of the night, unless it was a matter of extreme necessity. Certainly, needing to offer hospitality to a visitor probably wouldn’t qualify as grounds for disturbing another family – no matter how strong our friendship. We can be very reluctant to persevere, even in our prayer. Out of a sense of unworthiness or false humility, we can feel that we really shouldn’t be bothering God. The message in today’s Gospel couldn’t be plainer: if we trust God; if we regard God as a close, personal friend, we can always approach God with our needs and requests and we will never be turned away.
