Who is Christ?

St Peter helps the identity of Jesus to be clarified. Jesus is not Elijah returned from the dead, neither one of the prophets nor John the Baptist. However, although Peter correctly describes Jesus as the Christ he rejects the future prediction that he will suffer. Jesus corrects Peter with the added sobering thought that those who follow Jesus will also have to suffer. Some people carry heavy crosses while for other followers of Jesus their cross is found simply in the daily commitment to live their Christian faith in the ordinary events of life.
