Know thyself

In the first lines of the first reading, St Paul says that our depths can only be known by ourselves and not by others. However, there can be barriers to self-knowledge. The Holy Spirit can lead us not only to the truth about ourselves but also to have the mind of Christ, to look at reality with his eyes. His eyes are full of compassion so therefore a person who has welcomed the Spirit into their life looks on themselves with compassionate eyes as well as upon others.
