I come to do your will O God

In our first reading, Amos, in response to the order of the priest of Bethel to return to his farming, is able to claim that it is God who has sent him to prophesy. Similarly, in our Gospel reading, Jesus claims authority from God for his actions when he is criticised by the scribes. Let us reflect on how we act in our daily lives. Do I take time to listen to what God is asking of me and call on God's strength to fulfil his wishes?
