Distraught parents

Only Luke gives us a glimpse of Jesus as a boy, and it’s a very human story. At 12, Jesus is close to being recognized as an adult and no doubt he has a lot to discuss with the teachers in the temple. This is important for his future. Mary and Joseph, however, are besides themselves with worry. Yet the story ends with Mary treasuring all these things in her heart. Let us seek Mary’s wisdom. If we look at our busy lives, we can see all as treasure: they are either direct blessing or some kind of teaching we needed at the time.
