Ask in my name

In these few gospel verses Jesus three times repeats “ask in my name”. This makes it very clear that this is how we should pray to the Father, who will grant what we ask in the name of Jesus, so that our “joy will be complete”. I find these verses very challenging – we all have had experience of God’s answer being “no” or “not yet” or “something else would be better”. Perhaps Jesus took it so much for granted that requests would be within the will of God that he didn’t spell it out? Help me God to always ask as Jesus did.
