Gardening

On occasion, Jesus uses parables on gardening. Today it is pruning time - the grape vines. Rosarians will be familiar with pruning to encourage growth. Then the joy of having a prize-winning bloom. Jesus sees us as branches on the eternal vine. Some branches will bear fruit, others will be destroyed. Shall we grow our faith like the strong vine and the beautiful rose? The vine and rose require a dose of fertiliser to prosper. Do our souls require a dose of prayer and the sacraments?
